Reviewing Samsung’s i9000 Galaxy S s

The new Samsung Galaxy S will have the Apple iPhone looking over its shoulder, such is the excellent quality and specification of this new 2010 model. A new featured called “Swype” has been included on this model, with the aim to make text messaging and e mailing quicker and easier. Swype is designed to work by running your finger over the touchscreen keypad, rather than individually pressing the buttons. Although several other unwanted keys are pressed in the process, the Galaxy still manages to guess the word you were trying to type most of the time. This feature does make the composition of messages easier and is likely to be used on many future handsets. With regards to video playback, the Galaxy S is undoubtedly one of the best phones available thanks to its xVid and DIVX playback, as well as having a dedicated movie app. Despite lacking a “TV Out” socket, video can still be streamed to compatible PC’s and TV’s thanks to the DNLA support. In addition to this, the phones own video camera can shoot video in high definition. Footage is captured in a resolution of 720P at a rate of 30 frames per second, impressive for a camera let alone a mobile phone. The Samsung Galaxy S is the latest of the Manufacturers Android offerings, and certainly the most impressive to date. Powered by an excellent 1000Mhz processor, the Galaxy handles most tasks with speed and with great ease. The UI, or User Interface on this handset is named Touchwiz, and is a mainly widget based system set across several homescreens, which are accessed by a swipe of the finger. With Social Networking being such a key feature on most modern handsets, the Friends and Updates widget will be found especially useful, thanks to it keeping you up to date with your friends postings on various social networking sites. 16 GB of built in memory is supplied with the phone, however a microSD card slot allows for this to be expanded considerably. Measuring 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9mm and weighing just 118 grammes, although not compact the phone certainly isn’t excessive in its size. The weight and depth are minimized by the excellent super AMOLED technology incorporated into the 4″ screen. Not only is a high quality 480 x 800 resolution displayed, but dark colours are deeper and viewing angles have generally been improved. The i9000 Galaxy S is certainly one of the handsets to look forward to this coming summer. Perhaps destined to be the most successful Android handset to date, the brilliant specification and user friendliness make the release of this phone very highly anticipated indeed. The Samsung Galaxy S and the Nokia C6 White are coming soon.
